Founded in 1959, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra is among the leading symphony orchestras of the Middle East and over the last decade has championed music by contemporary composers from the region under its artistic director Ahmed El Saedi. For the final concert of their German tour, the musicians come to the Pierre Boulez Saal to present works by Mozart, Dvořák, and El Saedi himself. Michael Barenboim and FrenchEgyptian violist Sindy Mohamed, both longtime members of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, take on the solo parts in Mozart’s Sinfonia concertante.
