When 14-year-old Felix Mendelssohn published his Piano Quartet Op. 1 in 1823, he had already composed almost 100 works. Together with his sister Fanny, he was without a doubt one of the greatest musical prodigies of all time. Elena Bashkirova dedicates the third edition of her Mendelssohn Festival at the Pierre Boulez Saal to the young composer’s astonishing genius. Joined by a group of outstanding chamber musicians, she also presents works by Erich Wolfgang Korngold and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, two composers who achieved similar heights at a very young age.
