The Pavel Haas Quartet, last heard at the Pierre Boulez Saal in 2018, returns to perform music from its home country. The musicians pair Dvořák’s Opus 105 with Bohuslav Martinů’s Fifth String Quartet, called “the greatest Czech string quartet of the 20th century” by one of the composer’s biographers. The program opens with music by Vítězslava Kaprálová, a highly talented student of Martinů, whose works were championed by her teacher after her early death at the age of 25.
