Combining Hungarian, German, and French repertoire, mezzo-soprano Corinna Scheurle presents an intriguing song recital that explores a range of musical connections. Works by Béla Bartók are heard alongside Goethe and Heine settings by Hungarian-born Francophile Franz Liszt and songs by Debussy, whose music had a major impact on Bartók. Bartók’s compatriot and fellow folk-music scholar Zoltán Kodály brings the program full circle. Scheurle’s piano partner is Thomas Guggeis, who will also lead the Boulez Ensemble in the final concert of the season a few days later.
